 About Us
On our web pages you will find information about Aikido, our club, our affiliations, and full listings of dojos with locations and practice times.
There are also a number of articles; including a description of Aikido, a piece on rules and etiquette, the grading syllabus and a brief history of O’Sensei's life.
Who Are We
Southport Muto Aikido Club is the only Aikido club in the immediate area.  Details of clubs in Preston, Chorley, St Helens, Manchester and Liverpool can be accessed through the Links page.
Southport Aikido Club teaches the Iwama style of Aikido as taught by Saito Sensei and passed down by his students.  Saito Sensei was one of O'Sensei's most devoted students and was charged with the upkeep of the Aiki shrine in Iwama, Japan.

Simon, the club’s instructor was taught his Aikido, formerly, by Shihan Ralph Reynolds of the Aikido Fellowship (Shihan Reynolds was one of the first people in the UK to learn Aikido at ’The Hut’) in Birmingham and, latterly, by Sensei Roger Tabberer, of the West Midlands Aikido Association, who studied as an uchi dechi (live-in student) with Saito Sensei.  Shihan Reynolds has sadly passed away and Sensei Tabberer has now retired from teaching Aikido.
Southport Muto Aikido Clubis is affiliated to the British Aikido Board through the Aikido Research Federation and the West Midlands Aikido Association and works closely with Iwama Ryu North West.
